Yellow onion
Using onions in the burger adds a lot of flavor and helps keep it moist. Use about one half of a medium sized yellow onion, finely chopped.
Ground turkey breast

Gluten free bread crumbs
This simple swap keeps these delicious turkey burgers gluten free! Gluten free breadcrumbs are pretty widely available in most grocery stores, but if you cannot find them in yours, simply toast 2-3 pieces of your favorite gluten free bread, tear into pieces, and place in the food processor (affiliate link). Pulse until crumbly.
Grated parmesan cheese
Another great way to add savory flavor to these turkey burger patties.
Gluten free hamburger buns
Use your favorite gluten free burger buns. Since gluten free foods are becoming more popular, you should be able to find these in your local grocery store. If you can’t find gluten free bread, try using lettuce as the “bun” for Turkey burger lettuce wraps!

How to make gluten free turkey burgers
These gluten free turkey burgers are so quick and easy to make!
Sauté onions and garlic in a skillet.
In a medium bowl, mix ground turkey breast, sautéed onions and garlic, egg, bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, fresh parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Divide the turkey mixture into 4 or 6 turkey patties. Add the patties to a hot skillet, and cook for 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the patties reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
Serve these juicy turkey burgers on your favorite gluten free bun! Top your burger patty with your favorite toppings like red onion, lettuce, pickles and cheese.

Gluten Free Turkey Burgers

Turkey burger patties
- 2 tablespoons avocado oil divided, can substitute for olive oil
- ½ cup yellow onion finely chopped (about ½ medium yellow onion)
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 pound ground turkey breast
- 1 egg
- ⅔ cup gluten free bread crumbs
- ½ cup finely grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley can substitute 1 tablespoon dried parsley if desired
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ¾ teaspoon coarse Kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
For the burgers
- Gluten-free hamburger buns
- Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, cheese, optional toppings
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon avocado oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion, and cook 3-4 minutes, or until slightly translucent and crisp-tender. Add the garlic, and cook 1-2 more minutes, or until the garlic is fragrant and lightly browned. Remove the mixture from the heat, and let cool slightly.
- In a medium bowl, mix together ground turkey breast, sautéed onions and garlic, egg, bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, fresh parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Divide the mixture into 4 - 6 ounce patties or 6 - 4 ounce patties. Heat the remaining oil in a non-stick skillet. Add the patties to the pan, and cook for 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the patties reach 165°F.
- If needed, work in batches, until all patties are cooked through. Serve on your favorite gluten free buns!

Puree until crumbly. - If desired, you may substitute ¾ teaspoon garlic powder and ¼ teaspoon onion powder for the fresh onion and garlic. Omit the step of cooking the onion and garlic.
