Recently I’ve been getting inspired by making drinks out of the weirdest things I can – making delectable drinks out of a strange combo is fun! The first thing I wanted to accomplish was making a margarita out of green juice… so here we are with this Halloween Green Juice Margarita!
Okay in fully honesty I absolutely hate green juice. I just look at green juice and think ~EW~! It’s so green and when I look at it, there’s just no way it DOESN’T taste like kale and spinach blended. Growing up my mom and I would have strawberry protein smoothies every morning, except she would pour my half out of the blender and then add spinach into hers.. I could never get into it. So of course, when I moved to LA I would always laugh at myself for moving to the city of Green Juice!
This year I just can’t get into Halloween for some reason … it kind of feels like it’s cancelled right?! Even when trying to make recipes for Halloween drinks I thought to myself “do people even want to make ~Halloween drinks~ this year?” It felt like no because in LA bars are closed and there’s no parties for sure! But then I was reminded that people still want to celebrate and make things at home. So I did the only thing a converted Angeleno would do – buy green juice! I thought that it could be fun for two reasons – 1) making something delicious out of something I always found not appealing and 2) the color is super spooky!
When I made this drink I’m not going to lie, I was afraid to sip it. I first made the drink without the ginger beer and it fell a little flat in flavor and the greens were SPOOKY strong haha. By adding a little sparkling soda it brought dimension to the drink and spiced it up a little bit! If you’re trying to omit sugary drinks, use club soda and a splash of lemon juice or a lemon flavored sparkling water/soda and it’ll do the trick!
