    Why this recipe works

    • Swordfish has a mild flavor on its own, but this simple marinade adds extra flavor.
    • This recipe is fast and simple, ready in under 30 minutes, making it great for weeknight dinners.
    • The simple marinade can be adjusted to make different flavor combinations.

    Expert Tips

    • 15 minutes is all you need for this simple marinade!
    • If you are using frozen swordfish, make sure to fully defrost it first for even cooking.
    • If some of your swordfish fillets are uneven, thicker pieces will take longer to cook. It is better to have slightly thicker fillets to enhance the meaty texture.
    • Use an instant-read thermometer for perfectly cooked swordfish. It should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F.
    • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 1-2 days. Fish is usually best served fresh.

    Ingredients

Ingredients needed to make balsamic baked swordfish.

Swordfish steaks - Fresh fish or frozen swordfish will work for this recipe. Be sure to get evenly sized steaks so they cook evenly.

Balsamic vinegar - Adds acidity and a hint of sweetness to the marinade.

Italian seasoning - Using a premade seasoning makes this recipe quick and easy!

Other variations - If you want to add more flavor to your fish, try garlic cloves or garlic powder, black pepper, fresh herbs, or some lemon zest and juice.
