    mango pineapple popsicle

Mango, pineapple, lime juice and a little refined sugar free sweetener. Top with salty and slightly spicy chili salt (optional) for the best clean dessert!

This clean eating dessert recipe uses fresh ingredients. I’m a huge proponent of making simple recipes that don’t skimp out on taste. For desserts especially, I prefer fresh fruit, little to no sugar (almost always refined sugar free), and letting the ingredients stand for themselves. For other clean desserts like this one, try Frozen Greek Yogurt Cookie Bark or Vegan Coconut Pineapple Ice Cream {No Churn}.

    Popsicle Molds

I purchased my popsicle molds on Amazon. They’re great because they have a stand! There’s many shapes, sizes and material options online for purchase.

popsicle mould that is empty with wooden popsicle sticks on the side.

Here are some of my favorite options:

    • Mine: Stainless steel popsicle molds that are eco-friendly and rust resistant. Comes with a popsicle rack. Makes 6 at a time.
    • Silicone: Silicone moulds that are eco-friendly and made of food grade silicone. Makes 10 at a time.
    • Quick Pop Maker: Makes ice pops in as few as seven minutes, on your counter! Molds are cast-aluminum! Makes up to three 2-ounce pops at a time.
    • Eco-Friendly: These popsicle molds are completely reusable. Makes 6 at a time.
    • Most Kid Friendly: These moulds are smaller and cute little circles, perfect for children. Makes 7 at a time.

    Ingredients & Substitutions

limes, frozen pineapple, frozen mango, and a bowl of agave nectar.
    • Frozen Pineapple. Substitute for fresh pineapple or use only mango.
    • Frozen Mango. Substitute for fresh mango or use only pineapple.
    • Agave Nectar. Substitute for honey, simple syrup, or maple syrup.
    • Lime Juice. To add a little extra zest and tartness, add lime juice. Substitute for lemon juice or pineapple juice.
    • Water. Substitute for coconut water.

[Optional] Top these popsicles with Tajín! Tajín is a Mexican seasoning made with chile, salt and dehydrated lime. It adds a little extra flavor to these creamy pineapple mango popsicles! This seasoning is salty and adds a slight spice.

    Step-By-Step Instructions

STEP ONE: Purée frozen mango chunks, diced pineapple, lime juice, water and agave syrup together in the blender. Mixture will be thick, almost like a smoothie bowl. (You can also do this in the food processor)

STEP TWO: Spoon the mixture into the popsicle molds.

STEP THREE: Sprinkle Tajín or chili salt on top (optional).

STEP FOUR: Add tops and wooden popsicle sticks to the moulds.

STEP FIVE: Freeze for 4-8 hours.

    Storage Tips

Leftover popsicles can be removed from their molds and kept in an airtight container in the freezer. The homemade popsicles can be kept there for up to 3 months.

Tips, Tricks & Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take for a popsicle to freeze?

It typically takes between 4-8 hours for a popsicle to freeze, but depends on ingredients. Using frozen or cold ingredients in your popsicle filling will help it freeze faster.

How high up should I fill my popsicle mold?

Popsicle liquid will expand slightly while frozen in the popsicle mold. To avoid the liquid from overflowing, leave only a few centimeters from the top.

How do I unmold my popsicles?

I’ve found that the best and quickest way to remove popsicles from their molds is to run each popsicle mold under cold water. Then gently wiggle the wooden stick back and forth to release from the mold.

    Can you refreeze popsicles?

Yes! However, when you let a popsicle melt and refreeze, it can create a more icy consistency.

How can you freeze popsicles more quickly?

If you use frozen fruit in your popsicles, like this popsicle recipe, it will start the liquid much cooler already.

How do I know how much liquid to make for my popsicle mold?

In the instructions I have both amounts for 6 or 8 popsicles. Because each mold is different (unless you use mine from Amazon), you may have leftovers. If you have extra servings after you fill your mold, feel free to eat as a smoothie or juice!

How do I add fresh fruit to a popsicle?

If you want to add fresh fruit (such as pineapple chunks or mango chunks) to your popsicle molds, don’t make as much of the filling.
