Easy Spiced Mulled Wine

This Spiced Mulled Wine takes my regular glass of wine to the next level; it's warm, spicy, and so easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 750 ML Bottle of Red Wine
  • 1 Cup Brandy
  • ¼ Cup Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Mulling Spices
  • 10 Cloves
  • 2 Star Anise if you're not a fan of licorice or star anise, use 1 or none
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 Orange peeled and halved

Instructions

  • Put all ingredients in a pot.
  • Low simmer the mixture for at least 15-minutes and up to 3 hours. (The longer you simmer, the more concentrated the mulled wine will become. And the spicier!)
  • Pour the spiced mulled wine into mugs (through a strainer) and decorate with orange slices and cinnamon sticks.

Notes

ORANGE - Peel the orange first. Simmering the skins can make it bitter. You could always add dried orange instead.
MULLING SPICES - This is an important ingredient for the mulled wine. If you can't find mulling spices, you can always add more cinnamon sticks, cloves, and allspice. Adding dried ginger, peppercorns, and star anise will add extra unique flavors of spice.
