-
½ cup water
-
1 cup oat milk
-
1 bag Earl Grey Tea
-
1 teaspoon maple syrup
Bring ½ cup of water to a boil in a tea kettle or pot.
In a small pot, warm the oat milk and bring to a boil. Once at a boil, add the syrup and stir together. Bring to a simmer and simmer for ~3 minutes.
While the milk and sugar mixture is simmering, pour the boiled water into your cup and add the earl grey tea bag. Allow to steep for 3-5 minutes. Make sure to not over-steep as it will get bitter.
Froth the oat milk and maple syrup mixture.
Remove the earl grey tea bags from your cup and pour the frothed dairy-free milk and syrup mixture into the cup. Spoon the foam on top of the mixture.
Earl Grey Tea Bag - Substitute for your favorite black tea. You can use loose leaf tea (with a tea infuser) or tea bags.
Oat Milk - See below for notes on cleanest oat milk brands and how to choose. Substitute for almond milk or non-dairy milk (or dairy) of choice.
Sweetener - Use maple syrup, honey or coconut sugar.
If you don’t have a frother, you can always use a stovetop method. Use a whisk back and forth while your oat milk is on the stove top in a small sauce pot. Whisk until the milk froths. You can also use a French press!
Look for oat milks that have:
- Few ingredients (think: oats, water and salt - the fewer the better)
- No gums (like xanthan gum)
- No oils (like canola oil, rapeseed oil)
- Glyphosate free oats or organic oats or gluten free oats
